Music still a big part of Shaun's life

At 17-years-old, Shaun was a huge music buff, taking part in several school and marching bands. “It’s music seven days a week, 24 hours a day,” said his dad. “It’s what he does.” Shaun’s perfect pitch enabled him to pick up songs by ear quickly, and joining the Walt Disney World Marching Band in their rendition of “Under the Sea” was no exception. “He likes to perform,” noted Shaun’s dad. “Today his wish came true.”

Shaun had his wish granted in 2010; now, nearly 10 years later Shaun is 27-years-old, doing volunteer work and playing in a community band. Music is still a big part of his life: since his wish Shaun has travelled with his high school band, performed with the Red Deer Royals Marching band and participated in a World Marching Band Competition. He studied music at college and has completed various Royal Conservatory of Music exams in both flute and violin. The best part of his wish, he notes, was playing with both the band and with Mickey Mouse.

“I’m grateful for all the opportunities Make-A-Wish provided for me and my family,” writes Shaun. “I was treated like royalty for a day.”
