Kyle's Wish

Friendly and social, 17-year-old Kyle loves sports, going to the gym and staying active. He’s also living with cancer, and looking forward to returning to the sports he loves. He’d love to learn another language—like Russian or Ukrainian—and wants to pursue a career as a teacher or electrical technician. When Kyle was a baby he lived in Grand Cayman; he wished to go back to see where he’d spent the first two years of his life. “I want to see where I used to live,” says Kyle.

Given that Kyle loves beaches and “touristy things, like tours,” the trip to Grand Cayman was a success. And the family felt welcome in the place they’d left long ago. “We were amazed how kind people were towards us,” says Kyle’s mom. At the hotel “Kyle told people about having cancer and how the Make-A-Wish Foundation allowed our family to have this wonderful experience. It was all very special.”

“The trip couldn’t have come at a better time. Kyle seemed to be happy and relaxed during this vacation. This experience allowed us to reconnect as a family and really reflect on the traumatic year we had. Hopefully, this break will allow him to put the negative experience behind him and start a fresh life in the new year.”
