Andrew's wish is a trip full of firsts

Andrew Skow was a 4-year-old cutie with blonde hair, a passion for cars and a heart-warming smile, when he wished to go to Walt Disney World® Resort in 2012.  Living with leukemia, Andrew wanted to meet Mickey Mouse, one of his favourites. Along with his parents and his brothers, Finn and Jasper, he embarked on a trip full of firsts that included the boys’ first time on an airplane and their first look at the ocean.

During the fun-filled week that saw Andrew braving the rollercoasters with his Dad and building custom remote-controlled cars with his brothers, he says that one of the best parts was writing his name on a star at Give Kids The World Village. “There is this building where all wish kids put a gold star on the ceiling. I liked putting my star with all the other ones.”

Now 9-years-old, Andrew is in grade four and enjoying some pool time as a member of the swim club. He really likes the backstroke and recently came in third place in his swim meet! He wished to go to Disney World “because I really liked Disney movies and I thought Mickey Mouse was funny.” Looking back on his wish makes him feel happy. “I like looking at the pictures,” he noted. “It’s nice that cancer kids get to do something so fun and go to such a fun place. It was a really fun trip and we still talk about it. It is a really, really good memory.”
