Donor Spotlight: Chemco

Make-A-Wish has an ambitious vision: to grant the wish of every eligible child. To achieve this vision, we rely on the generosity of our community, and funds from individual and corporate donors. Since 2011, Chemco has played an important role in our wish granting efforts, making over 30 wishes possible through our Adopt-A-Wish program.

As part of their Chemco Cares program, Chemco employees volunteer their time and lead fundraising events for several charities. What is appealing about the Make-A-Wish Adopt-A-Wish program? "The ability to see firsthand the impact our support helps create," says Brian Lunge, Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Chemco. “It’s not donating and hoping the dollars are being put to good use. It’s seeing the faces of the family and hearing their stories. Our core value of ‘People First’ is epitomized by the Make-A-Wish program.”

At the heart of Chemco’s generosity is its people. Whether fundraising through golf tournaments or raffle tickets at the annual Christmas party, Chemco’s employees “make the most of their ability to have a positive impact,” says Brian. “One of the cornerstones of Chemco Cares is children’s health. That encompasses both physical and mental wellbeing. The role Make-A-Wish plays in filling in what might otherwise be a large mental health void is evident on the smiles of families participating in the program.”

Because wishes are our passion, we ask everyone who walks through our door what their one true wish would be. “The obvious answer would be that we wish your organization didn’t have to exist,” notes Brian. “But it does and is appreciated by the tens of thousands of lives the program has touched and impacted over the years. And while everyone in our organization would have a different wish… my wish would be to play drums with one of my favorite rock and roll bands.”
