We grant the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
A “wish” is a child’s heartfelt answer to the question: if you could go anywhere...be anyone...have anything...meet anyone...what would you choose? A wish is a wonderful, one-time experience that is granted to a child between the ages of 3 and 17 with a life-threatening medical condition. A granted wish is a magical interlude during an overwhelming and frightening time for the sick child, their siblings and parents.
A child's wish is often a significant factor in increasing a child's sense of empowerment. Children are energized by a wish….by imagining it, describing it, planning and anticipating it. Families tell us that a wish can encourage a child to see a future to fight for and to stay positive during tremendous times of struggle. Above all, a wish provides a child and their family with hope, strength and joy.
